WHAT IS BARISTA INNOVATION CHALLENGE 2026?

The Barista Innovation Challenge is more than just a competition—it’s a celebration of coffee artistry and craftsmanship. This year, BIC is back to provide a stage for baristas, home brewers, and coffee enthusiasts to showcase their brewing expertise and mixology skills, inspiring the nation’s coffee community to spark the next wave of innovative coffee trends.

Through the theme ‘The Taste Begins At Origin’, BIC 2026 aims to showcase the richness of Indonesian coffee beans. We believe that a great coffee experience always starts with quality ingredients grown with care. By respecting the basics in every recipe, we let each cup tell the story of its origin. This natural quality is then perfected by the barista’s innovation. BIC 2026 is about celebrating the perfect mix of Indonesia’s pure coffee roots and an honest exploration of flavor

Competition

Register and choose your preferred regional round through our official website at baristainnovationchallenge.com. The registration fee is Rp275,000, and each participant will receive a starter pack that includes:
200g of Locton coffee beans (Mandatory)
2 DRiPP products (syrup or fruit pulp – Mandatory)
250g of creamer powder

Participants are required to use the designated DRiPP products as the main ingredients during the competition.

Participants are required to create one innovative coffee-based beverage, complete with a recipe, a preparation video, and a story that reflects this year’s BIC theme.
From each region, 15 selected participants will be chosen to represent their region in the next stage — the Quarterfinal Round.

The 15 selected participants from each region will compete and present their beverages live in front of the judges. Three top-scoring participants from each region will be crowned regional winners, while six participants with the highest overall scores across all regions will advance to the National Grand Final.

In the grand final (national phase), six top-scoring participants from all regions will compete in Jakarta through two challenge rounds.
The two best performers from this stage will move forward to represent Indonesia in the grand final (international phase), where they will compete against finalists from across Asia.

The eight best participants from four countries will compete the following day, presenting a new beverage concept through two challenge rounds. The top performer among all finalists will earn the title of The Next Champion of Barista Innovation Challenge 2026.
